Makeup wipes have always been a bit of a weird one for me. As a teenager I heavily relied on them to remove my makeup at the end of the day and they were pretty much the only thing I used to clean my face. It wasn’t until I reached my 20s that I really saw the light and began to cleanse, tone and moisturise with hot water and a flannel. The change in my skin was instant and I turned my back on makeup wipes completely. However, I wish I could say I was strict with my cleansing routine. Too often I simply cannot be bothered to cleanse and tone after a long day at work and have horrifically fallen asleep with my makeup still on. I absolutely hate waking up in the morning with old makeup so I decided that I needed to purchase makeup wipes for when I’m super tired.
That’s when I came across the Yes to range which included a nice selection of makeup wipes. These are definitely not cheap at approximately £4 for 25 wipes but it was the promising quality and ethics of the company which drew me to the brand.
Yes to products are always at least 95% natural and are free from parabens, phthalates and SLS. The cleansing wipes themselves are made from compostable natural cloth and they are super thick. This thickness allows you to easily use both sides of the wipe as it gently cushions your skin while cleansing. I chose 2 types of wipes to try: Yes to coconut and Yes to blueberries.
Yes to coconut wipes will hydrate and restore your skin, using hydrating, fatty acid rich coconuts to smooth and moisturise. Though I wouldn’t say they are very moisturising, you’ll still need to moisturise afterwards, I find they’re very gentle and very good at removing makeup. Even the toughest mascara and eyeliner will come off with ease which is a huge bonus when you’re tired – no one wants to be scrubbing away all night. I also absolutely adore the smell of these wipes as they smell like a freshly cut coconut. They leave my face clean, feeling refreshed and smelling yummy – I definitely love these wipes.
Yes to blueberry wipes contain blueberries as well as apple and lemon peel to cleanse the skin. They will help to improve the firmness of your skin as well as protecting it. The formula is also supposed to diminish fine lines and nourish age-damaged skin which is a huge bonus for older skin. I find these are not as moisturising as the Yes to coconuts wipes but are far more cleansing. I like to use these when I know my skin really needs a clean and the lovely sharp lemon scent also wakes up my skin.
Overall I do enjoy using these wipes and they are definitely worth their price tag. Unlike most wipes, these do not leave my skin feeling blotchy, red and sore. Instead they gently remove makeup and dirt with ease. The last thing I want to talk about is something you can do at home, take a makeup wipe out of it’s packet and squeeze it. What happens? Not a lot normally but these makeup wipes will majorly foam up like shower gel hitting water. For me this shows the high content of cleansing ingredients contained in the wipe and this demonstrates how effective it’s going to be.
I definitely recommend giving these a try if you like more natural skin care products or just a good, effective face wipe.
