NYX Buttergloss Swatches & Review

As soon as I heard that NYX had landed in the UK at Boots and FeelUnique I was so excited! I love affordable makeup brands & I’ve been lusting over their Instagram for a while now. I really had to try something and after a long browse on the website I decided on the Butter Glosses as I was looking for some new lip glosses anyway. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with lip gloss. It doesn’t last a long time and they can feel sticky, but sometimes I want a splash of colour or shine on my lips without prepping and priming for a lipstick. Some mornings I’m simply too tired to go all out with my makeup and I find wearing lipgloss is perfect on those days.

I picked 4 shades:

Shades (top to bottom): Praline, Angel Food Cake, Fortune Cookie, Peaches And Cream

Ranging from nude to brown and then a bright pink colour for the spring.

So far I really like the constancy of these glosses. They’re thick but not sticky. I feel like I can talk and go about my day without worrying about what my lips are doing. The longitivity is obviously not as long as a lipstick but I find I can wear it at work for 5 hours before needing a touch up – which does impress me. The consistency is soft, silky and glides on like melted butter. I also really love the shine on my lips when I wear it. I think it looks super pretty and is just so perfect for an effortless yet chic makeup look. As it is a gloss the pigmentation is weaker than a lipstick and is definitely for people who want a subtle lip look which does make it perfect for work too.

For £5 each I would definitely buy these again and invest in other shades. I really like the packaging as it makes choosing your colour so easy, especially at 6am! I also love the scent as it smells like sweet cupcakes, it’s not over powering when on the lips but I do think it makes a product feel more expensive than it actually is. I can really see myself reaching for these in the spring/summer combined with a light blush and a dash of mascara. They’re just so easy which keeps me reaching for them and I find I have to carry one in my handbag at all times.

Overall I’m just so impressed with the Butterglosses and with NYX as a brand – I cannot wait to try some more. If you’ve tried NYX I’d love to know what you think in the comments below.

Yes and the Intense Butter Glosses are highly pigmented and have a great color range. I own the Black Cherty Tart shade and its a beautiful dark purple. I recommend you trying it out. Wiyh the regular buuter gloss, I’ve tried the shades Ginger Snap and Devil’s Food Cake.

Thank you for your recommendation! It’s always awesome to know a product is really fantastic. Nyx is so new to the UK I’ve not had a chance to fully explore the brand, but these are definitely now on the top of my list!
