For whatever reason, it gets to the month of my birthday and I go a little spending crazy and I can 100% justify each spend with ‘it’s my birthday soon’. Funnily enough, I don’t make a big deal out of my birthday. I never want gifts as I tend to just save and buy things that I need, as I need them. I also absolutely hate all the attention that a birthday brings. But this year my birthday is on the back of my uni finals and working solidly for 2 months understaffed at work. I actually have 2 days off over my birthday and damn it I’m going to treat myself because I deserve a bit of a break. Obviously that also includes indulging in a few beauty whims too.
First off is an order from BeautyBay which stocks some American brands to us Brits. If you checked out my Summer Wishlist post, you’ll know that I’ve been lusting over the LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Liquid Lipstick in Honey Blonde. At £9.95 I absolutely had to order it for my birthday celebrations. I also spotted the brand new Forbidden Kiss VelvetMatte Liquid Lipstick Summer Daze Limited Edition Collection. Each limited edition shade has a spring/summer inspired lid and I have to say they all look absolutely gorgeous. I picked up the shade Goals AF. This is a rich fuchsia shade, perfect for the summer and it was £11.25.
I also took a look at the brand L.A. Girl and was very tempted by the low prices. I picked up the PRO.powder HD High Definition Setting Powder for £5 and so far I’m really impressed. The packaging isn’t cheap looking and the texture of the powder is really soft – not chalky. I’m going to have to explore L.A. Girl a little bit more; especially their matte lipsticks.
When I saw on Instagram that Benefit would be selling their brand new brow products in the UK for 24 hours only, before the main release – I knew I had to get involved. Say hello to the 3D Browtones Eyebrow Enhancer, a brand new product to subtly highlight your brows. For light blonde brows like mine, the slightly metallic finish will add depth and texture without looking too overdrawn and honestly a bit weird against pale skin. This new product comes in 2 shades and will retail for £18.50. Want to get your hands on one? The official release date is 24/06/16 in the UK.
I always end up going to Boots for lunch as their meal deal offer is just the best. When queuing the other day, I happened to spot the Soap & Glory skincare stand with a big 3 for 2 sign. I picked up the No Clogs Allowed Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask for £11.50, Scrub Your Nose In It Special Pore Refining Formula AHA Facial Scrub for £9 and the 3-In-1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash for free (RRP £8). I really love the Soap & Glory skincare range and I have such high expectations for these.
FeelUnique is one of my favourite beauty websites and as I was ordering the Zoella Beauty Sweet Inspirations collection for a birthday present, I thought I might as well chuck in a few goodies. I actually bought some of the Sweet Inspirations collection for myself, you can read my post all about it here, as well as a few little things.
I really needed a new moisturiser so I decided to try Steam Cream Nuts For You. This was reduced from £13.95 to £11.95 and the packaging is to absolutely die for – it’s so cute! I’m planning a blog post dedicated to this wonderful cream so I won’t give too much away. But Steamcream used to be a sister company to Lush Cosmetics, it’s entirely vegan and smells just like Lush’s Dream Cream – you know it’s going to be good.
I am such a sucker for Montagne Jeunesse face masks as they are so easy to store and use. The Chocoholic Delight Pamper Pack is £5 and contains 6 chocolate themed face masks: 2x Chocolate Face Masque, 2x White Chocolate Face Masque and 1x Hot Chocolate Sauna Masque. Naturally, this was added to my basket without a second thought.
If you read my Spring Beauty Wishlist post you’ll know that I really wanted to try the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cremes. I picked up the shade London, a gorgeous nude for £5.50. The scent of this product is also absolutely divine, it smells just like cheesecake!
Last but not least, I picked up something which isn’t beauty related at all. I absolutely love video games as they’re a great way to relax and I literally grew up playing my SNES and N64. Recently, I haven’t had a lot of time to relax or play games. But with finals over I’m definitely taking some time to myself. I’ve collected the Sims games and expansions over the years, who doesn’t love creating a sim and living precariously through it? I thought it was about time I added to my Sims 4 collection so I picked up the newest expansion Get Together as well as a stuff and game pack bundle. Time to crack out the snacks and get playing.
Does anyone else go a little crazy around their birthday?
