I’ve had my eye on the Makeup Revolution Chocolate Heaven Bronzer for a while now. Promising to smell like a chocolate bar and a total dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, it had to end up in my shopping basket. The first thing that surprised me when I received my parcel was the sheer size of the bronzer, I did not expect it to be so big! It’s absolutely huge which means it’s going to last for a long time, I seriously doubt I’ll hit pan for a good few months which is really impressive.
The bronzer is a lovely cool tone, perfect for contouring and especially perfect if you have pale skin like me. The colour pay off is also really good, the swatches are pigmented and you don’t lose any colour when transferring from fingertip to hand. The formula feels really soft when swatching but there is a slight chalkiness and a small amount of fallout. The scent is also really sweet like chocolate but it isn’t overly strong.
I received a deluxe sample of the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer for my birthday in a little Too Faced Set and I absolutely love it. In comparison to the Makeup Revolution Bronzer, the formula is a lot softer with absolutely no fallout or chalkiness. The scent is also a strong, rich chocolate which I prefer. The Chocolate Heaven scent isn’t bad, but it’s definitely a more synthetic, sweet smell.
If you’re looking for a strongly pigmented bronzer, the bottom swatch is definitely for you. The colour pay off is amazing and barely any product was used for the swatch. However the top swatch used a lot of product and I found it was really difficult to build up to the same colour.
The top swatch was actually the Too Faced bronzer which really surprised me. The forumla is slightly more blendable but it also looks a little more sheer in comparison to the Makeup Revolution bronzer. I was also impressed with how similar the shades were, although I think Chocolate Heaven is slightly more warm toned.
For £4.99 I think the Makeup Revolution Chocolate Heaven Bronzer is fantastic. It may not live up to the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer scent, but for me that’s the very last thing to think about when purchasing a product. The pigmentation is so much better and the formula really isn’t bad at all. It’s also super matte and you get so much product for your money. If you’re trying to decide between this bronzer and the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, I would definitely go for this one. With an almost £20 price difference I think it’s a no brainer.
Have you tried this bronzer or do you love the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer? I’d love to know what you think in the comments below.
