Makeup Geek: First Impressions

Makeup Geek is a brand which bloggers and vloggers alike absolutely rave about, so naturally I had to get my hands on some products to try myself. After receiving 2 eyeshadows for Christmas, I decided to purchase another one as well as a Z Palette so I could slowly create my very own custom palette.

The eyeshadows currently in my collection are:

Ice Queen – frosty shimmery white

Mesmerized – deep medium taupe with strong purple undertones and a foiled finish

Showtime – rusty brown with warm undertones and a foiled finish

Because I cannot resist shiny, compact packaging I also picked up a Blush in Rendezvous which is a muted fuchsia with a matte finish.

The first thing that really blew me away was the soft texture of all of the products, they are incredibly buttery and because of this they sit beautifully on the skin. The pigmentation on each shade is also amazing and I only needed the tiniest amount on my brush when applying. Due to their soft texture they also blend really well and it’s a definitely a product that works for you and not against you. I also noticed that there was very little fallout with the eyeshadows with both a natural and synthetic brush which I was very impressed with, especially with the metallic shades. The shimmer was also not too chunky which definitely helped with the blending process!

Rendezvous is such a pretty blush but it’s definitely better suited for deeper skin tones. Even when applying the tiniest amount with a stippling brush, I still ended up with very bright cheeks which required a hell of a lot of blending to become wearable. However I did receive a tonne of compliments on how healthy and glowing I looked and for that reason alone I’m very happy to blend blend blend to make this blush work. I cannot recommend the formula enough and the little shiny compact is to die for!

I created this really simple, soft smoky eye look with blushing cheeks, teamed with a brown lipstick and I absolutely love it. My makeup lasted all day without creasing which is a rarity for my oily eyelids!

Overall I’m super impressed with Makeup Geek so far and I will definitely be expanding my collection. Though slightly on the pricey side with eyeshadow pans ranging from £6-£9.25 and the compact £14.25, I think it is definitely worth it for the quality. The shades are pigmented, the formula is spot on, this is a brand which is definitely worth the hype!

Have you tried any Makeup Geek products? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below!

I haven’t tried any of their stuff mainly because I don’t often wear eyeshadow (still working on my blending skills LOL) but will definitely try it out one day.

I’m really impressed though. Just from looking at the pictures, I can somehow tell that they’re very pigmented!
