My New Camera: Canon EOS M3

Today I thought I’d write a quick post on my brand new camera now that I’ve had a little time to play and get the hang of it. You may have noticed that my blog photos and in particular make up shots have improved somewhat and that’s because I finally took the plunge and bought a real camera. Every single photo I have taken for my blog has been through my iPhone SE, which if I’m honest has a really good camera for product shots. But the front facing camera is not so good and as I wanted to post more makeup posts, I needed a camera that would actually show detail.

So say hello to my new baby – the Canon EOS M3 which costs £429.99 from Argos. It has a moveable screen for that perfect selfie, built in WIFI to easily post to Instagram and HD Video capabilities where I can also plug in an external mic just in case I want to try out Youtube – what more could I want? So far I am so impressed with the photo quality, the ease of use despite being such a novice at photography and just how heavy and beautiful it is. I definitely recommend it as an investment if you are looking for a camera for blogging as you can also get so many lenses for it depending on what you want to photograph – though they are quite pricey.

Just incase any one is interested the specs are:

Product specification:

  • 24.2 megapixels.
  • 3in screen with LCD technology.
  • Lens focal length 15 – 45mm.
  • Optical image stabilisation.

  • Built-in flash.
  • Wi-Fi.

Overall I’m so happy with this camera, after not quite 2 years of blogging I feel like I can finally step up my game and take the beautiful shots I always think up in my head which my iPhone couldn’t quite do.

What camera do you use?

Ooh this looks amazing! I use Canon for all my photos and mine is over 10 years old now. I’ve had it since I was in school doing my GCSE’s! But a lot of the time the problems with older cameras aren’t the body, it’s the lenses, so I’ve updated that once so far, looking into getting a new lense again soon. I love my trusty old Canon but I wish it did video as well! That’s the one thing I’m missing in my kit

I own a Canon digital camera which is about 4/5 years old now but even then, when I bought it, it wasn’t a new model. For basic point-and-shot capabilities it’s fine but for my blogging posts so far, I’ve been using my phone (Google Nexus 6P) just cos I find that’s easier for me to locate my photos via Google photos rather than doing the traditional upload, save and edit process.

In good natural daylight, I do like my photos but under artificial light, I find it difficult sometimes to get a good photo even if you edit. I will think about getting a DSLR in the future though because since blogging and instagram, I’ve become so attached to photography!
